Preparing Little Ones for the Summer Holidays
When the summer holidays roll around, you need to have everything prepared to deal with your kids over the course of the long, hot summer.
They will be outside all the time, and you will probably be headed somewhere on holiday. Get this kit together to take care of all of their health needs while you are on the go this summer.
Sun Care
The first thing most people think of when they think of summer is sunshine. The sun is lovely during the summer, but it is also dangerous. The harsh UV radiation that the summer sun unleashes can mean sunburns for your young ones if you are not careful. To avoid this, make sure to get a strong sunblock to keep their skin safe. Don’t let them go outside without sunblock. Use a sunblock with an SPF of at least 25 to keep them protected.
Even with sunblock, kids can get sunburns. This is especially true if you are headed somewhere hot this summer like Africa or India. If your kids get burnt, you want to have aloe vera gel on hand to soothe their sunburns.
Pain Relief
Remember that aspirin can be dangerous for children. It is best to give your kids Tylenol or ibuprofen for their pain relief needs this summer.
Insects
Make sure to have a good insect repellent on hand to protect your kids from bugs this summer. A bug spray with DEET in it works best to keep away these flying pests. If your kids do get bitten by mosquitoes, the best way to soothe the itchy sensation is with calamine lotion.
Treating Injuries
Kids get all sort of scrapes and cuts over the course of the summer holiday. You need to have all the things on hand to treat them. This includes gauze to soak up any blood. You will want alcohol to disinfect these injuries. Have a good supply of Band-Aids on hand. Also, make sure to have a good disinfecting cream that will promote healing.
When you have all these supplies together, you will be ready to enjoy the summer with your kids whether staying local or off to the Algarve for a family holiday you will have peace of mind and reduce the stress of the inevitable accidents that will occur.
