Epididymitis
Epididymitis arises from inflammation of the epididymis, a small structure behind the testicle where sperm mature.
Acute bacterial epididymitis is characterised by fever and pain in the scrotum. The scrotum may appear swollen, and tender.
Treatment should include a short course of antibiotics, bed rest if felt necessary, scrotal elevation and icepacks may help and painkillers. Repeated episodes need investigating as to the type of infection, which is causing the problem.
